I am closely observing the recent developments in and the region. Yesterday in the early morning, more than 126 people were arrested across 21 provinces in Southeast , among them politicians, renowned journalists, artists and regular citizens. (1/5)

The arrests took place just 19 days before general . I am concerned about the safety and fairness of these elections. It is alarming that among the arrested were lawyers who mobilised to ensure free elections, as well as journalists from independent media outlets. (2/5)
