A History Lesson:
1. When Israel was founded in 1948 - half the Arabs living there were happy to stay and become part of an Jewish state - they enjoy 100% equal rights today in the only liberal democracy in the Middle East. The Arab town of Abu Ghosh is a great example.
2. Of the rest - many Arabs left, as the neighbouring Arab countries attacked the nascent Jewish state. Those Arab countries told them to leave, saying after they have destroyed Israel - they could return. Sadly for them, Israel won.
3. The rest were forced out by Israel - they went round the country asking the Arabs if they would be happy to live in a Jewish state. These are the ones said 'no'. It's no different to UK interning 20,000 Germans based in the UK in WW2 and sending them to the Isle of Man. You can't have enemies as citizens. It's dangerous.
4. At the same time, 800,000 Jews were thrown out of Arab countries across the Middle East and most settled in Israel.
4. The Palestinians (as opposed to Israeli Arabs) today are descended from Arabs who never accepted the existence of Israel. Sad for them, they could have had a great life.
