@h_david_baer This is why for most Europeans "Heimat" (homeland with its sense of locality) doesn't make sense. And this is why "Vaterland" is a nationalist-ideological oxymoron, as empires by definition cannot be nation states. German federalism is a remarkable & functional accomplishment:)
