Today we are voting on potentially the biggest emission killer in the EU toolbox - the Emissions Trading System.
Currently taxpayers pay for many of the impacts of emissions - climate change, pollution, healthcare, cost of living.
Polluters must pay and innovators rewarded.

For the first time ever we have managed to include maritime pollution, incineration, buildings and road transport in the Emissions Trading System.

Funds raised from this legislation must then be used for investment in decarbonising industry, modernising technologies and climate action.
We are also establishing a new Social Climate Fund of €86.7bn for supporting a just transition (Ireland is actually already doing this!)
