Today we remember Ashling Murphy whose death shocked the nation. Every year, the equivalent of a city the size of Marseille is lost due to femicide and violence against women. Serious action is needed, including at EU level.

Today, alongside @evinincir, I am presenting new EU draft legislation to combat violence against women in all member states. This will be the first EU legislation of its kind. We need to ensure common standards of protection and deterrence everywhere. #CombattingVAW
