This morning I gave a lecture on the economic aspects of - relations upon he invitation of @andrassyuin & @Kasonline. I quoted Timothy Garton Ash: the EU should preach less and listen more to its partners.

We have to decide: we want to cooperate along the lines of ideologies or rational economic interests. In my opinion, relations with don’t need to be a love affair. In order to maintain our competitiveness & to accomplish the green transition, though, we need to cooperate.

We shouldn't demonise Chinese investments. EU has numerous autonomous trade defence instruments that serve to filter out those investments that might hurt EU's interest and security. We have to use them in a rational way and not descourage all Asian investments.

EU should be united, economically and politically strong, abandon labelling its MSs and third countries, be quicker in concluding and focus on its own interests, not on other's.
