, I attended the 14th EU-West Nordic Council meeting to discuss the implementation of the renewed EU Arctic strategy, including the sustainable economy, risks emanating from Chinese investments, and security issues. We should understand that the indigenous people of the Russian Federation are among the first victims of Putin’s aggression against Ukraine. At the same time, we can observe the weaponization of migration by Russia, which affects the northern countries right now. The other concern is threats to strategic infrastructure, such as fiber cables and pipelines. It’s not surprising that Sweden and Findland are strengthening their security by joining NATO.
We need to remain vigilant when it comes to any form of cooperation with Russia, including scientific cooperation.
