Why can’t a politician be a girl who just wants to have fun?
I am sure this brilliant article by @carolinenokes will resonate with so many women in politics across the world!

The vital outcome for #WorldHumanitarianDay, is that the international community accelerates the pace and scale of support. We all must act now and act together to prevent suffering and avert unimaginable loss of life.
And we must act together.
No individual nation can solve this crisis alone.
A UN Horn of Africa roundtable in April mobilised £400m from global partners.
We've been working with @WorldBank to ensure rapid deployment of the $30 billion commitment to countries hardest hit.

Action is needed now.
We know from history that acting early saves lives.
This year, we're committed to spending around £156million on humanitarian needs in the region, building on the £76m spent so far.
We are prioritising protection against immediate threats to life.
The situation in East Africa is heart wrenching.
In Somalia alone, over 386,000 children are projected to be severely malnourished & at risk of death by the end of this year without action.
That's around the same number of children as there are at Primary School in Scotland.
The 🇬🇧 has just announced £14m of time-critical, life-saving funding to East Africa.
To address the suffering and avert loss of life, the international community must prioritise a collective response to this crisis
I sent my top humanitarian officials to see how UK aid and action is helping the most vulnerable people in Africa with ongoing drought and food shortages. It’s my priority, and I am calling on the international community to do more to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe.
The statement on human rights in Mali by @OHCHR Independent Expert is concerning. Russian mercenary involvement is clear. Civilians must be protected and human rights upheld. Wagner Group involvement is not in the interests of Malian stability. https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2022/08/mali-un-expert-gravely-concerned-deterioration-security-and-human-rights
