I wished Portugal every success as it will be hosting the Arraiolos Meeting next year in Porto, 20 years since its creation with the first-ever host being the former late President Jorge Sampaio.

I held a meeting with Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of Germany. We discussed at length developments in the Western Balkans from the perspective of the enlargement of the EU, the latest scenario in Ukraine & the developments in the Mediterranean, particularly those in Libya.

My engagements in relation to the Arraiolos Meeting continued this morning as I received President Katerina Sakellaropoulou of #Greece. We discussed the migration issue in the Mediterranean and emphasised the need for a balance to be struck between solidarity and responsibility.

The Grandmaster's Palace brings #arraiolosmalta2022 to its conclusion. An evening of "camaraderie and fellowship" that all participating Heads of State managed to build along the years. I invited all Presidents to consolidate this network of trust.
