I thank @PresidentIRL & Mrs Sabina Higgins for their warm welcome at Áras an Uachtaráin. I had an interesting meeting with @PresidentIRL during which we discussed Malta’s position in the United Nations Security Council, similar priorities & neutrality.

This state visit follows the State Visit to Malta by President Higgins in May 2022 and his participation in the informal meeting of the Non-Executive Heads of State of the European Union, known as the Arraiolos Group, which was held in Malta last October.

Prof. Alex Felice, member of @RareDiseasesMT and Mr Yann Le Cam founder and CEO of @eurordis -Rare Diseases Europe gave an overview on rare diseases in Malta and in Europe. Mrs Muscat expressed her gratitude to the MCCF for the assistance it provides to rare diseases patients.

As we commemorate #RareDiseasesDay, Mrs Michelle Muscat, President of the National Alliance for the Support of Rare Diseases, presented me with a copy of a book entitled ‘Special, Just Like You and Me’ was authored by Dr Frank Grossmann, who was a rare disease patient himself.

Our language, apart from forming part of our culture and identity, is a strong element that unites us as a nation. Therefore, I called for a continuous update that respects the roots, structure & use of the language with the aim of keeping it alive and active.

I conveyed my condolences and support to the people of Türkiye following the devastating earthquake that has claimed over 46,000 lives in #Türkiye and #Syria. President Erdogan stated that the solidarity demonstrated by Malta touched the Turkish people’s hearts.

I thoroughly enjoyed the musical recital organised by 'Fondazzjoni Paulus' as part of the annual AGAPE Festival. It was a delightful performance by pianist Natalia Rakhmatulina with the participation of Baritone Joseph Lia.

This morning I presented the Letters of Credence to Malta’s Ambassador-Designate to the Kingdom of Denmark, Mr Mark Causon, and wished him success in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, particularly on matters related to renewable energy, research and innovation.
