This evening we joined the Qatari community in Malta to commemorate the National Day of #Qatar. In my speech, I remarked that the opening of Malta’s Embassy in Doha & the frequent exchanges at the highest levels are testament to excellent bilateral ties between Malta🇲🇹 & Qatar🇶🇦

Malta is a proud host to the IOI and, over the years, has afforded diplomatic status to this flagship organisation. On this occasion, it is fitting to applaud the work done by Professor Elisabeth Mann Borgese, Arvid Pardo, and Ambassador Saviour Borg in this domain among others.

I would like to thank the Armed Forces of Malta who, in collaboration with the Malta Darts Association, are organising a darts tournament in aid of the MCCF. This morning I had the pleasure of meeting the participants at the Luqa barracks and thank them for this initiative.

During the ‘Premju Soċjetà Ġusta 2022’, I urged everyone to keep in mind that every person with a visible or hidden disability has the right to a dignified and most independent life possible. I stressed that no one is a throwaway, and everyone has a contribution to make in Malta.

I had a very interesting meeting with the EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, Sven Koopmans. We discussed developments related to the situation in the Middle East Peace Process, particularly the role of the EU to advance multilateral dialogue and peace.

We had an interesting meeting during which I referred to the active contacts maintained by the Office of the President with different religious denominations in Malta. I also stated the values of tolerance and acceptance continue to lie at the heart of the Presidency's outreach.

Miriam & I enjoyed attending 'Santa Swim 2022' organized by the @excelsiormalta in aid of the MCCF @istrinamalta. I urged everyone to keep in mind all those who end up in difficult unforeseen circumstances. Solidarity is key & we shouldn't turn a blind eye from those in need.
