There's scandalous profiteering by big corporations on essential goods during this cost of living crisis:

✊We need price controls!!

Neale Richmond after giving the retailers a stern talking to while the government refuses to use the power they have to impose price controls.

2/2 🤔Why does the government refuse to consider price controls on essential goods?? They can implement them with the stroke of two pens!!

🙄Instead, they're going to continue to 'ask nicely' for these corporations to 'step up to the plate'!

1/2 😡Double the number of families are now reliant on food banks to feed their family!
The average worker has lost €76/week in real terms!

For the average family:
👉More than €1000 extra on fuel!
👉More than €1000 extra on electricity!
👉More than €1000 extra on groceries!

Interesting personal life he has, participating in a Council decision to put land up for sale.
RT @NewstalkFM: Minister for State Niall Collins TD said he should not be held accountable for "personal matters" before the Dáil.

"The Dáil is a legislative forum, it’s a parliament. It's about holding Government to account.” newstalk.com/news/no-member-of

🙄Niall Collins has admitted today that he knew of his wife's expression of interest to buy the land...

👉It's black and white - he has to go! How could he remain as Minister?

I raised with the Taoiseach Niall Collins' admission that he knew of his wife's expression of interest when he participated in Council decision to put land up for sale.

I asked whether he agreed Collins' position as Minister is no longer tenable.

His answer?

More bluster.

Is anything not part of the woke agenda?
RT @MattShanahanTD: @pjgallagher @GAAGO Could it be @officialgaa put hurling to subscription because they knew competing football matches wouldn’t sell?? A great disservice to hurling and to thousands of our citizens inc many elderly denied free to air access. Is this part of a woke agenda in HQ to punish manly game?

This is the absolute confirmation that he should have recused himself.

Collins should go.
RT @MichealLehane: Minister Niall Collins says he knew at the Bruff Council Area Meeting in January 2007 that his wife wanted to buy the public land at Patrickswell in Limerick. “Given the benefit of hindsight it would have been better if I had recused myself” from the meeting, he said. t.co/pfYmEZp3db

This is a joke.

We need price controls and nationalisation of the energy sector.
RT @thejournal_ie: The Commission for the Regulation of Utilities says it is encouraging all energy suppliers to reduce prices 'as soon as possible' thejournal.ie/cru-energy-compa

We need price controls, not pleadings to companies.
RT @thejournal_ie: Junior Minister Neale Richmond called for retailers to "step up to the plate" and commit to a wider reduction in grocery costs, ahead of a retail summit later this week

@oconnellhugh It gets one sentence!

A different editorial choice would be to lead on front page with - "Majority say Collins should go."

There are lots of options inbetween, including an article focusing on this poll on inside pages.

Sindo choice was to go for most minimal possible.

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/paulmurphy_TD

Interesting editorial decision not to have a headline or article in Sindo about this poll result.

A majority of people think Niall Collins should have resigned, a position articulated only by @pb4p in the Dáil.

Goes against the suggestion that nobody cares about these things.
