The point is that the major UK banks are an oligopoly and have an implicit taxpayer guarantee over deposits. Coutts was bailed out by the taxpayer. They are not normal businesses and cannot play virtue signalling politics while being de facto underwritten by the taxpayer.

More importantly, the offer of a Natwest personal acct only came after I went public last Thursday.
