@Terry293335 @ClaireHackett_ @CllrMichaelLong You're so wrong. We do support @ClaireHackett_ and it's because of her wee family she is involved in politics. She wants better for them and isn't waiting for someone else to deliver it.

@surni196 @mannyinnorniron @allianceparty Which is why @allianceparty is offering an alternative. Saying populist things with an election in 7 days would be easy: we're choosing to be honest, because we respect voters.

@shirleyannemcm @mmcshane95 @allianceparty I don't either: the system isn't working.

There's a difference between properly resourced reform, which we advocate, and cuts which are being imposed from Westminster.

Even with more money, Bengoa reforms are still needed: additional money is needed to deliver them properly.

@shirleyannemcm @mmcshane95 @allianceparty Yep. We need properly staffed teams across the board, but part of that is surgeons, theatre nurses, anaesthetists, etc. It also needs theatre time.

Some roles you can recruit locally, but some are specialised and need to serve the region, not just one locale.

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/naomi_long/st

@shirleyannemcm @mmcshane95 @allianceparty The alternative is to not manage sustainable reform and allow services to wither due to lack of staff or because they're judged unsafe.

That almost always impacts negatively on rural hospitals and can make not just that one service but other facilities no longer viable.

@shirleyannemcm @mmcshane95 @allianceparty They struggle to attract some surgical staff because they'd rather work in locations where there is a critical mass of patients to maintain skills.

Locating a specialism there, can solve that problem to some degree, and provide sustainable urgent services as well.

@shirleyannemcm @mmcshane95 @allianceparty Example: if Craigavon, SWAH or Daisy Hill become specialist centres for elective treatment, they become sustainable to provide other services, but crucially, have the expertise and space to make a dent in waiting lists. The SWAH has excellent surgical facilities, but needs staff.

@shirleyannemcm @mmcshane95 @allianceparty > collapse, and that almost always disadvantages rural communties and the west disproportionately.

On @bbctheview, I also made the point that @Translink_NI, community transport and @deptinfra must be engaged in reform planning to ensure connectivity to service hubs.

@shirleyannemcm @mmcshane95 @allianceparty We also need to invest in driving down waiting lists at the same time: again, specialist centres have a key role to play in that.

My point is that those of us who live near current centres need to accept that specialist centres may be further away: if we don't, we risk service >

@shirleyannemcm @mmcshane95 @allianceparty That's why reform is necessary: the system isn't working. The only way off some surgical waiting lists is red flag or blue light, which isn't just not ideal, but actually increases risk to patients.

Bengoa reforms, properly funded and implemented, are the best way forward. 1/2

RT @h_irwin98: The lack of representation on Ards and North Down Borough Council genuinely shocked me when I first became a councillor.

I’m proud that @NDownAlliance are standing a truly diverse slate of candidates - including 6 women and 5 men - during this election 💛 t.co/LeiAuvwuqi
