RT @SteveDonnelly95: Aidan McAnespie’s family should not have had to fight so hard and for so long to have the truth and justice that was theirs by right.

What their struggle proves, however, is that you cannot place a time limit on justice.

UKG legacy proposals are poison and must be abandoned.

@HornerMark12 @DavidBoland4 No. Those who were given letters were never convicted of any crime. In fact to get a letter, you had to be assessed as not being wanted in connection with any incident by the police. Releasing the names of people who haven't been convicted and aren't wanted would be wrong.

@SuperGD6 It's not an issue I faced in the Dept of Justice. Our civil servants were fantastic and delivered a huge amount for a small team. Our challenge was managing vacancies due to not backfilling posts.

More widely, that's for Dept of Finance and Head of Civil Service to address.

@tbdukni @taffdon @StephenFarryMP He never claimed he didn't know. He did. My officials and his discussed it and I wrote to him.

@JohnMar90718642 No, they stopped money we did have being redistributed between Departments. That meant we couldn't prioritise across the Executive where money was spent. Some departments were doing things that whilst worthy, were non essential, whilst others couldn’t meet their statutory duties.

@DavidBoland4 They were effectively rescinded by a statement in Parliament by then Secretary of State, Theresa Villiers, back in 2014. Her statement followed an inquiry by the NI Affairs Committee: you can read my contributions via Hansard.

RT @StephenFarryMP: A little pragmatism can go along way. So by extension, Protocol isn’t a constitutional matter, acceptance of EU laws can be acceptable, and the ultimate jurisdiction of the CJEU is implicitly recognised.

I hope that the McAnespie family can find some peace and comfort after this long-awaited verdict today.

It also further reinforces the injustice of the Govt's Legacy Bill, which would deny justice in similar cases.

Some really significant progress being made by @PoliceServiceNI over recent weeks against a wide range of organised crime gangs. Whether drugs, weapons, or human slavery, it is all exploitation and action against it is to be welcomed.

RT @PMcReynoldsMLA: @pmdfoster @FT @jude_webber Didn’t he recently say he’d ‘eat grass’, rather than concede ground on the protocol?

Behind the scenes it’s ok to ‘cherry pick’?

I really wish the DUP would stop playing games with NI and the lives of all those who live here.
