@ToTravelIsToLi1 @newsoncool @allianceparty We proposed these reforms first during the last suspension when we were the 5th rather than 3rd largest party; in that case, it wouldn't have affected us at all.

I know it's hard to believe, but some of us actually put the best interests of our people before party interest.

@ToTravelIsToLi1 @newsoncool @allianceparty Our reforms maintain the right of each party to take the job to which their mandate entitles them. It simply removes their right to block formation of government.

When we didn't enter the Executive, it continued. Same for UUP and SDLP. Same should apply to all parties. >

@jamiemathis01 @JulieBell362 @newsoncool @allianceparty Julie doesn't let me see her tweets, so I have no idea what you are suggesting we are trying to do.

All we want to be in a position to do is the job we were elected to do. Not an unreasonable expectation.

@Mawn_said @newsoncool @allianceparty Others have abused the structures for party political gain, with no consideration of the impact on long-term confidence in the institutions and on the people we serve.

That has got to stop.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/naomi_long/status/15

@Mawn_said @newsoncool @allianceparty No. We are not. We have operated the institutions (which we said at the time were flawed) in good faith. We have proposed reforms that would reflect a changing society and the need to end this stop-go ransom politics, so we can deliver our best for people.

@Redeyes1878 @allianceparty @StephenFarryMP You realise many benefit claimants are in work?

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/naomi_long/status/15

@Redeyes1878 @DarranMarshall No, we didn't. We voted against the protocol and actually supported alternatives which the DUP tanked.

And reform of the institutions, far from taking a wrecking ball to them, is the only way they can survive. A cycle of ransom politics is eroding all trust and confidence.

@freestylekoala @newsoncool @allianceparty I did. It was part of our negotiating position then and is now.

Had it been taken on board then, we wouldn't be in this mess now.

@UnionistUnityNI @newsoncool @allianceparty Take it up with Sammy Wilson. He's the one who raised the need for unionist pact to "beat SF"; it was DUP & TUV who raised the language of not wanting to be being bridesmaid to a SF First Minister.

@Ulster1112 @newsoncool @allianceparty Did you listen to the clip?

We said clearly that reform is not a precondition for us going into government but it needs to be prioritised. It is essential to stop the constant cycle of collapse and crisis.

People deserve sustainable government and only reform will provide it.

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/naomi_long/status/15

@Mawn_said @newsoncool @allianceparty Nope, I specifically didn't say we wouldn't go back until the institutions were reformed: I said it needed to be addressed, though.

Otherwise, we'll be back here in a year - 18 mths. That's not a sustainable way forward for the people of NI.

@MichaelHegart13 @Ricardo61682434 @HeavenScentxs @StephenFarryMP It'll depend on the motion, the context, the timing.

Maybe the key is to work on a viable proposition with which we can all engage rather than wasting time on hypotheticals.

@Stephen40825524 @MacgMairtin @StephenFarryMP @BBCNolan I can't see the tweet to which you're referring.

If it involves sectarian behaviour, take it as read that we condemn it.

As for what the media cover, that not something we can influence.

@Anthony86679791 @allianceparty @StephenFarryMP Yep. I share your frustration.

Our proposals for reform would prevent that happening again and allow those who want to do the job to get on with it.

Today, @allianceparty North Down MP, @StephenFarryMP pressed the new Chancellor to ensure that benefits are uprated in line with inflation. Poor decisions by this government have deepened the crisis: the response must not be to balance the books on the backs of the vulnerable.
