@Politicorak @ClogherHead1 @paulmurphy68 @allianceparty I haven't defended that, Robin. I have made the valid and accurate point that, despite being met with violence, many persisted with non-violence and were ultimately successful.
It's entirely consistent to condemn both state and non-state violence, which I do.

The Civil Rights Movement eschewed violence, yet change came: equal franchise, fair employment, access to housing.
@HarryArt88 There is an investigation ongoing: it is an inquest directed by the coroner, and undertaken by PSNI.
That is why I cannot comment: to do so could jeopardise the inquest, risk any potential future prosecution and be contempt of court.
I support the family's quest for truth.
@paulmurphy68 @allianceparty No, it isn't. It's complex and nuanced and also painful for many. I acknowledge all of that. That's why it's so important not to make assertions that "there was no alternative". That may have been how some people felt, but they were a minority, including within Nationalism.
@billingtoni @allianceparty We supported @EastBelfastGAA from its inception and they, like anyone else, should be free to train on any pitch, anywhere. Victoria Park was my local growing up and is suprrb, where people from all backgrounds are welcome.
As for unionists, I can't answer for them.

@jamesmcilhennon @allianceparty As Justice Minister, I can't comment on any live inquest or investigation. Doing so could jeopardise the inquest, any potential criminal case flowing from it, and be in contempt of court.
I do fully support Noah's mum in her quest for truth. I hope the inquest can deliver that.

@barneytoner @BitcoinMaxi21m @allianceparty No, I've argued the case for "just war": I hate violence, but accept there can be circumstances where there is no alternative but violence to defend oneself and others, I'm not a pacifist.
My issue is that there was an alternative here. The civil rights movement proved it.

And also sought to defend it not just explain it. That's where she and I take a wholly different approach.

My point is that many others (the vast majority) used peaceful and lawful means to successfully challenge and change that, whether voting equality, housing rights, fair employment or a plethora of civil rights issues.
@margaret19500 @allianceparty I can't legally comment on any part of the Coronial Inquest including the PII application. Doing so could jeopardise the inquest, any potential prosecution flowing from it and be in contempt of court.
Fiona deserves the truth and I hope the inquest will help deliver that.
