They also allow contact between those with addictions and healthcare, that can support people into recovery.

Stop/start govt has been a barrier to progress. Year-on-year cuts/freezes to the NI finances haven't helped. Neither has Covid pressure.
No-one said it only started, just that we're being blocked from acting.
@johnH974 @Seven_of_9ine @thepointis4 @Paul_Mc_Cusker @belfastcc We do. Huge inroads have been made into disrupting supply chains and arresting dealers. But you won't stop it all. Not all addicts ars using illegal drugs: some are abusing/trading prescription meds.
If the solution was a simple as you suggest, it would be working. It isn't.
@SaffronArmy @thepointis4 @Paul_Mc_Cusker @belfastcc It's genuinely worrying. People dying of overdoses, people with untreated mental health and addiction problems without support and care. It's not unique to Belfast but it's a growing concern.
@johnH974 @Seven_of_9ine @thepointis4 @Paul_Mc_Cusker @belfastcc We neither normalise nor encourage it and people are injecting on the streets, overdosing, getting blood-borne infections from dirty needles and leaving those needles lying around the streets.
The only people having any success are those applying harm reduction methods.
