Firstly, he's not my "sidekick" but an elected Member of the Assembly and, secondly, he was one of a number of MLAs representing @allianceparty in Dublin whilst others were doing so in London, which is completely reasonable.

I find it quite offensive you would suggest such areas aren't "nice": most are warm and welcoming as are most people I meet.

Suffice to say, the flying of the Union Flag on designated days is recommended by the College of Arms, the Royal Household body responsible for flag protocol. That's why the UK Govt follow it.
