There's no reason I would be across this: it's a private reply to an MLA on a DoH issue. My involvement as Minister in excess deaths is only if they exceed burial/crematorium capacity.

The *average* for 5 years means that some years will have been higher and others lower in that period, so this year being higher than the *average* doesn't necessarily anything untoward.

He was asked for statistics and provided them: I'm sure like everyone else @RobinSwannMoH would agree that every single death is a heartbreaking experience for their loved ones.
@GabeFin No, it isn't and we don't. We have supported families pursuing justice against the Army where there was wrongdoing, and believe they should be held legally accountable for their actions.
And nothing I do in politics is done for comfort.
@jliam9979 I can't comment on it at all, Liam. It's part of the inquest process, and I cannot interfere in live cases.
To do so would risk the outcome of the inquest, could jeopardise any future prosecution and be held as contempt of court.
The cost of living is rising. The winter is ahead. We need an Exec to start tackling this.

@GabeFin We haven't normalised or excused illegal action by the British Army: we have supported those who were impacted in seeking justice. Nor do we venerate or glorify the actions of those engaged in such behaviour.
