@qstnvrythng_ No, they were the one's poking fun. Making us laugh at ourselves. Dame Edna Everidge wasn't being mocked: the character was sending up pretentiousness in the people around her. And her creator made a fortune.
It's okay not to understand it, but it's not okay to misrepresent it.

I cannot, however, comment publicly on matters before the courts as it could jeopardise the outcome and place me in contempt of court. I've already stated my views to the extent I can on both issues.
