RT @allianceparty: Those MLAs who didn’t support the appointment of an Assembly Speaker should not be paid their salaries, Alliance Leader @naomi_long has said.

This is why we need an Assembly and Executive - real people with real problems.
Yet those of us who want to try to represent and assist them are prevented from doing.
Yes, I'm angry. And frustrated. But mostly I'm desperately sad for my constituents. It's obscene.
RT @larderbelfast: This week we seen someone quietly turn down chilled food items. When we enquired as to why, with embarrassment & tears they explained they couldn’t af…
RT @EoinTennyson: 72% of MLAs - nationalist, unionist and neither - voted to appoint a Speaker and get on with the job today. The DUP blocked that appointment.
It is an affront to democracy, and a slap in the face for the most vulnerable. We need reform.
Some genuinely good news on a pretty bleak day for politics. 🥰
@KarenDouglas_NI will be a superb Mayor for the people of @ANDborough. Congratulations 👏 🎊
RT @StephenFarryMP: Great news. @KarenDouglas_NI will be a brilliant Mayor of @ANDborough. Proud to have her as a friend and colleague.
RT @ShellKell00: The Assembly can take action. For one party to prevent it from doing so, is shameful beyond belief. Nothing is more important than this.
RT @enrobso19: This is word perfect

RT @PaulaJaneB: Proud to again represent South Belfast as an MLA after signing the Undertaking and Roll of Membership @niassembly.
Disappointing and shameful that @duponline is preventing me from carrying out my job to the standard my constituents expect. We all have work to do.
@JonnyHIrons @phildowie @hairyhillfarmer Rubbish. Look at who campaigned for it.
@BigHitTopperz @phildowie We were working: an assessment was done about how much and thanks to my work, salaries were cut to reflect that.
It would have happened sooner but the DUP used their influence at Westminster to ensure it didn't.
@Redeyes1878 I called for salaries to be cut then too? That is consistent.
@counting_by @Tracey_utv The expenses pay for the offices.
@tombell55 @Tracey_utv They don't get paid. So it does, yes.
@phildowie I was the person who got salaries cut during that time? Your memory lapses are surprisingly consistent, always forgetting when Alliance were absolutely consistent.
@gawa_tyrone We didn't block return to government and we lobbied to ensure all salaries, including our own, were cut.
If the DUP don't want to do the job, they could not sign in and forfeit their salaries. But they won't, of course.
They'll just stop every other MLA from doing all of the job they were elected to do.
I told the SOS, anyone blocking election of Speaker should lose their salary.
RT @AmandaFBelfast: I can’t find the tweet asking me this but the answer is yes. If the newly elected MLAs sign the roll but don’t elect the Speaker they wi…
RT @CllrMichaelLong: A total disgrace. We need the NHS fixed, the cost of living addressed and a budget set. How is this going to help?
RT @BBCJayneMcC: “Being a minister at the moment.. we’re there in a holding formation, we can do minor things to keep things ticking over…” caretaker Justice Minister @naomi_long expresses frustration over the DUP’s refusal to support election of a Speaker & reforming an executive #bbcgmu
