I spoke on the the 20 years celebration forum of the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP), which I helped launch as Portugal's Minister for Science and Higher Education.
EDCTP has become the most important initiative for international cooperation in the Health sector, and is responsible, for instance, for the malaria vaccine. As a Portuguese, I'm proud to say it began with the cooperation between two Portuguese-speaking countries: Portugal and Mozambique.

I am honored to speak at the 20th anniversary of Global Health EDCTP3, reflecting on two decades of impactful work in combatting poverty-related diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis. EDCTP's dedication to research and international cooperation is remarkable, with tangible benefits for humanity. 🌍
I look forward to discussing the opportunities with the Global Health EDCTP3 program. It's a testament to what can be achieved through cooperation and commitment with the European Union.
I am proud to have been part of this journey that began as a joint between the Portuguese and Mozambican governments in 2003 and was approved in the Competitiveness Council of the EDCTP1 as Minister of Science, Innovation, and Higher Education in Portugal.
EDCTP is one of the most critical global health programs, and its impact on improving lives worldwide is immeasurable.
