Barry has chance tonight to stand up for his hard-pressed constituents.
This is his way of saying that he won’t take it.
Result of his actions = 1. Turf sale ban coming 2. Home heating costs rising next wk 3. No gov support for low paid workers seeking to move from fossil fuels.
RT @CowenBarry: Notwithstanding Min Ryan going back to drawing board on regs to improve air quality vis a vis solid fuel use,SF motion in race to populism …

RT @sinnfeinireland: The Government’s plan punishes communities who rely on turf, instead of introducing measures to support communities in transitioning away from this form of heating in a way that is fair and sustainable – @ClaireKerrane @Martin_Kenny @conwaywalsh @mattcarthy

RT @EOBroin: .@RTBinfo rent index for end of 2021 just out…

Rents continue to spiral upwards.

We need an emergency ban on rent increases on existing & new tenancies, a refundable tax credit worth a months rent, huge investment in cost rental & more enforcement resources for the RTB!

This is devastating news. Maria was a champion for her son Gavin after he was killed by loyalists. So sad that she has gone to her rest before receiving truth & justice. The campaign will continue.

RT @EOBroin: This confused leaking is unhelpful & counterproductive.

Govt must be honest & accept their housing plan has been overtaken by events.

We need a more ambitious plan that meets the housing needs of all, from the homeless to the refugees & all in between. irishexaminer.com/news/politic

While our idiotic government are playing games they still don’t understand that this is about people just wanting to be able to heat their homes.
Government actions have made that unaffordable - turf is the last available option for many; banning it now is a slap in their face.

Fine Gael should just employ @PearseDoherty as their legal advisor - he proves them wrong weekly at this stage 😳
Also, they should just actually give families a break by implementing Pearse’s proposals rather than half-measures.

Government have been forced to make another cost-of-living announcement.
Once again they fell short.
Again they did nothing in respect of home heating oil (which gov will increase on 1st May).
Nothing on childcare costs - nothing on housing costs.
Emergency budget needed now!
