Those are not semantics, they are a matter of law.
Instead of strengthening our welcome to asylum seekers, successive UK governments have engaged in name calling and ideology.

Removing legal routes or stopping people claiming asylum doesn’t stop them being asylum seekers.

At the end of the process, none of them are asylum seekers. They are either given the status of refugees, the large majority of them are, or not.

@MutzUk @JCWI_UK @ukhomeoffice You and I know that, when asked, they all declare that they are asylum seekers because they are asylum seekers at the point of arrival regardless if someone is there or not to ask them if they are.
