First past the post voting systems and primaries only bring the worst in candidates and the worst of winning candidates.
Proportional voting systems with transferable vote gets rid of extremists politicians with extreme views right from candidate selection point.

A dereliction of duty from a government refusing to act while everyone else shares the blame. This is unsustainable and needs to stop.
