For over 200 days MLAs have been receiving full pay while failing to fulfil the full duties they were elected to do.
Reducing their pay until an Assembly is restored reflects the work they are currently carrying out.

One of the benefits of an office in Belfast City Centre is being able to visit the amazing @belfastcc Christmas Markets for lunch.
Brilliant to see the life & excitement returning in full flow this year without the impact of Covid restrictions.
The food isn't bad either 🙌

🍃 I planted a tree in @HillsCastle as part of the #QueensGreenCanopy tree campaign.
🌲 I’m pleased @DefraGovUK will provide £500k in funding for this great initiative, creating a network of healthy native trees across the UK in honour of HM the Queen. #NationalTreeWeek

At a time where taxpayers’ money - and taxpayers themselves - are under enormous strain, it is not acceptable that MLAs continue to draw a full salary while unable to conduct the full range of functions for which they were elected.

The people of Northern Ireland want their elected representatives to get back to work for them.
I hope the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Bill will help accomplish this and again urge NI’s parties to work together and bring back the Executive and Assembly.

If NI parties disagree with the Budget allocations set out today, they should restore the Executive to consider and revise the position I have set out today.
It is with significant regret that I am now setting a Northern Ireland Budget.
I have a clear message to the NI parties; if they disagree with my budget, the best outcome is for a restored Executive to consider and revise the position I have set out.

Great to see @NIConservative this evening with NI PPS @tomhunt1988 and Whip @robertlargan
Those responsible have demonstrated a blatant disregard for public safety. The vast majority of people will condemn this attempted attack and other incidents which have taken place over recent days. The PSNI have my full support.
RT @PoliceServiceNI: Derry/Londonderry device confirmed as 'viable' following further examination
The Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Bill has been introduced to Parliament today. 📃
Northern Ireland is best governed when governed locally, so we must see an Executive up and running again.

RT @NIOgov: Through the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Bill, the government is taking limited but necessary steps to maintain Northern Ireland’s public services in the absence of Ministers.
Yes, I’m very excited about this World Cup!
