Over 1,000 hours of sewage poured onto stunning Blackpool Sands beach in South Devon last year - the worst affected Blue Flag beach in the country.
Yes our sewers our old, but privatised water co's are clearly not doing enough to upgrade.

@TOTNEZ @dgpearce1000 @AnthonyMangnal1 @SouthHams_DC We push for action at every opportunity. @timfarron v strong on this in parliament - same problem in Cumbria / Lake District. Controls needed on Air BnB, business rate loophole to be closed, higher council tax etc. All needs national policy - yet govt doing nothing to enable

@TOTNEZ @SouthHams_DC Many pay no business rates at all, so no contribution to local service provision.
Many were given grants of £10k or even £25K by SHDC during the pandemic because they are 'small businesses'.
Our estimate around £20 million paid to second home owners.

A dubious honour to have the most expensive UK seaside homes in this constituency. Average house price £1.2mln...
Local people priced out, communities dying, no keyworkers - but absolutely no govt action to protect locals. All we get are vague promises.

New trade deal will add only 0.08% to our economy, threaten the last orangutans, push food standards ever lower and pressure our farmers. No scrutiny of deal in parl’t.
A pathetically small, environmentally dangerous compensation for the trade deal we left.

“Britain has ditched environmental standards, signed up to terms that will undermine British farmers, and left us open to being sued by multinational corporations in secretive courts. And all for no real economic benefit.”
RT @williamnhutton: This is a brilliant piece - and the Committee to scrutinise trade deals like this has just been scrapped. Badenoch must not be allowed to escape accountability. “Take back control’? With this Pacific trade deal, Brexit Britai…

Well done Germany. Actions not words
RT @PlymouthLibDems: Germany is offering its citizens a €49 per month nationwide train, tram & bus pass. The UK Govt? It ditches plans for a more modest trains-only pass. Countries doing well can offer their citizens good things; sadly, this Conservative Govt is useless. theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/m

RT @LibDems: The local elections in May are a chance to send a message that enough is enough: British people are fed up with being taken for granted by the Conservatives and want them out of government.

People are turning to the Lib Dems because they know we work hard for our communities.

A well considered thread about the government's "illegal" migration bill. Worth a read 👇
RT @amcarmichaelMP: Just spoke in the committee debate on the Illegal Migration Bill. Some key points from my speech on this poorly thought out bill. THREAD: 1/

RT @wendychambLD: The 'Illegal Migration Bill' will cause great harm and row back on the UK's commitments to vulnerable people including victims of modern slavery. I am grateful to After Exploitation for organising this powerful letter and glad to be able to add my name in support.

government that will have different priorities. One that will put people at the heart of policy and govern for us, not for the monied elite, or the fossil fuel giants, or mates in high places with deep pockets.
I can't wait to get started.
And if you would like to apply
