@GitItRite @GWRHelp But I will try that website! Maybe there are better prices on there. As I’ve said elsewhere on this thread, the pricing system is utter chaos

@GitItRite @GWRHelp No… it’s coming out at
£114.30 for one adult,
£75.40 for the other with a senior railcard
= £189.70
Plus £30 for the railcard… £219.70

Same trains, Two together = £172.50 + railcard… £202.50.

@JohncCurzon Excuse the 'fat cat' photo... I was writing something different, though not unrelated, and the cat erroneously became attached to this reply! Never mind - you can guess the rest :)

@JohncCurzon Yes! Exactly this! If fares were affordable it would be a game changer. More tickets sold at lower prices... seems obvious really.
And integrate proper bus services and space to park bikes easily and securely at stations. That would have a positive knock on effect on health too

@sciolisthjf @TimWardCam @GWRHelp The whole rail pricing system is a fiasco and the only people who benefit are shareholders and directors.
Graham Sutherland, boss of First Group, paid over £1mln a yr incl bonus, with long term incentive potential of another million
Obscene, from what should be a public service

@tim_noon @Steve_Cramoysan @GWRHelp So many changes I'd like to see in our public transport network and infrastructure! Being rural is no excuse for the woeful service we currently have

@russmakes @GWRHelp Yep I hear you. I've commuted in France, the Netherlands and Germany. Always a fraction of the price it is here. I could probably cross Europe for the cost of a ticket to London!

🐦🔗: n.respublicae.eu/CarolineVoade

@TimWardCam @GWRHelp I'm not surprised. We're going to have to drive. I really don't want to. I don't have an electric car, I'd rather be green... but don't have much choice.
I pay £14 a day for a short hop to work and back. Petrol is about £4... But we have to keep the shareholders happy. Sickening

How can it cost £200 for two of us to get to London by train - midweek, off peak? What is wrong with this country? It's only a 3 hour journey!
Simply unaffordable.
But GWR owners made £66 million profit in H1...

This insanity has to stop.

@LibDemLaura So sorry to read this - it must have been a very tough decision. Being a working mum is tough enough without being a PPC as well. You worked hard for Hallam, and you’d have made an excellent MP.
