Former MEP Ben Habib reacts as more than 42,000 migrants have crossed the English Channel this year.
RT @julianHjessop: FYI, I've had a closer look at the claim that Liz #Truss’s #minibudget "cost £30bn" (which must be true because it was on the front page of the Observer 😉)...

Thank goodness a @Conservatives MP that knows what must be done.
When the answer is staring you right in the face and it’s simple, it’s almost certainly the right answer.

RT @NatalieElphicke: What’s needed is a step-change in approach with joint border patrols and a Channel-wide joint security zone.
It’s only when migrants and people smugglers alike know that they can’t succeed in crossing the …
RT @TiceRichard: The latest “deal” by this Tory govt with France will increase the £ millions we send them but nothing will change
They hope worsening weather will reduce numbers allowing them to claim success
Only @reformparty_uk will stop the boats

@James_Thorburn So the taxi service is going on strike?
In the new deal with France we are expected to pay £72 m in 2023, up from £63 m this year, to curb the trafficking of migrants illegally crossing the Channel.
It is wasted money.
If we want to curb these crossings, it is simple, boats must be turned back by Border Force
@CeeMacBee I’m sure he has not.
@ConradOliveira @Jeremy_Hunt @Conservatives @trussliz She was not given a chance. She was defenestrated by the Tory party and others
@ExmoorPonyClub @Jeremy_Hunt @Conservatives It’s really very straightforward. @trussliz had the solution (more or less). She was defenestrated by the Treasury, the BoE and Tory wets.
The Tories have trashed the economy. They have presided over an explosion of debt, tax and inflation. With no growth in 12 yrs
@Jeremy_Hunt is about to kick the economy while it’s down. More taxes and more austerity.
The @Conservatives are part of the problem, not the solution
@TomBewick @crimlawuk Trading on his ostensible legal authority to peddle a false narrative. Seen it before.
