The smallest cost to the Exchequer from the mini-budget tax cuts was the reduction in the higher rate of tax.
But its reversal has stopped the media backlash and cries of “unfunded” tax cuts. Even £ has jumped upwards.
This was an ideological battle, not an economic one.

If Steve Baker’s apology to the EU reflects the mood of govt, we can assume the Protocol Bill will not deliver.
Baker should have apologised to British citizens for HMG’s abject failure so far to deal with the union busting Protocol.
