RT @MayorofLondon: Starving TfL of the long-term funding it needs doesn't just hurt the Londoners who rely on its services every day—it risks the national economic recovery too.
A few words from me earlier today:
RT @SadiqKhan: 1. Grant Shapps’ latest TfL funding letter is total nonsense.
It seems he has:
➡️ no basic understanding of how TfL finances work and
➡️ no respect for the truth - a common theme with this Government.
A thread: 🧵
RT @willnorman: TfL and London boroughs have been given expanded enforcement powers to improve safety for cyclists.
@TfL will begin fining motor vehicles caught driving in mandatory cycle lanes and cycle tracks from 27/6/22
@SpeedySticks007 @Clinnick1 @IrishRail @Alstom @Captain_Deltic @AlstomUK They wouldn’t fit - different gauge 😉
RT @TfL: Check the status of our network including ⤵️

@fredsirieix1 Également!
@fredsirieix1 Request heard loud and clear! The vast majority - 95% - of streets in London are controlled by boroughs. Those controlled by TfL - remaining 5% - do allow motorbikes. Will discuss with colleagues in borough councils. Safe riding!
RT @LDN_pressoffice: Today, the Deputy Mayor for Transport @SebDance is visiting the factory in Derby where the new Elizabeth line trains were built, and he's issued a warning about future jobs and contracts if TfL does not receive long-term funding.

We urgently need a fair, long-term funding deal that will protect London’s transport network – not just for the sake of the capital but for the economic wellbeing of the whole country.
In Derby today visiting key @tfl suppliers @AlstomUK and @TidycoLtd, highlighting the strong connections between London and the East Midlands.
TfL contracts support hundreds of jobs in this important manufacturing base, but ongoing funding uncertainty put these jobs at risk.
@fredsirieix1 Hi Fred! Motorcycles are already allowed into bus lanes on most of the Capital's red routes, which are the roads that TfL controls.
RT @SadiqKhan: Londoners would welcome #Eurovision with open arms.
We're ready to step up and support Ukraine by hosting a contest that pays tribute to and honours the Ukrainian people, and also celebrates the very best of Britain too.
Women and girls should be able to travel confidently and safely on public transport. We continue to work with partners to support women, and to help educate all Londoners, especially men, about misogynistic attitudes and behaviours https://madeby.tfl.gov.uk/2021/10/27/tackling-sexual-harassment/
RT @MayorofLondon: For too long, work to end violence against women and girls has been focused solely on support for victims.
Today I’m lau…
@stellacreasy Absolutely!
I'm pleased that TfL's suppliers share our concerns and will be making representations to the Government on the importance of investment in London for the whole UK economy. 3/3
Without a long-term deal, we'll be forced by the Government to enact major cuts to bus and Tube services which would be disastrous for our capital's economic recovery. 2/3
This morning I met with key TfL suppliers to update them on the frustrating lack of progress with the Government in agreeing a long-term funding deal.
There are now just eight working days until TfL's funding deal runs out, but we're yet to hear anything from them directly. 1/3
RT @AuschwitzMuseum: 12 June 1929 | A German Jewish girl, Anne Frank, was born in Frankfurt.
In 1942 on her 13th birthday she received an empty diary. She perished in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in 1945.

RT @SadiqKhan: The government continues to hinder London and the whole nation's recovery by refusing to provide TfL with the long-term funding it needs.
It’s done the same for other industries, so why not Londoners?
They need to act now & give TfL a fair funding deal.
RT @mayorofhackney: RT photo from the last time I helped to open @hackneycouncil & @cityoflondon #walkingandcycling2022 conference. Great to be here today in person with @SebDance, @LadyVelo, Dame Jane Roberts from @livingstreets @ShravanJoshi & so many other partners & speakers. So much more to do.
