Wholesale gas prices were 9 times higher in October than the previous year and that was 4 months before the war began.
It was because of a cold winter globally and no wind!

1. My electricity bill doubled last October - 4 months before the war in Ukraine.
2.The shale gas does belong to the state. Companies have a licence to frack but there is a moratorium. This could be ended with new licence conditions ensuring UK consumers benefit

Here’s a policy idea.
We stop subsidising renewables immediately.
Electricity suppliers offer customers if they wish to buy fossil fuel electricity or renewable electricity
If renewable costs more people can choose to pay extra, like organic food.
Let’s have real competition.

There are 3 ways to bring down cost of living - all involve reducing major costs
1. Tax - we can reduce this immediately
2. Energy - fracking can start to bring cheaper gas on stream in a year. Wind is 5 times more expensive
3. Housing - will take longer - need planning reform

The Times say the way to solve our energy crisis & bring down costs is to be self sufficient (YES), invest in nuclear (YES) and offshore wind (NO).
