@Fatjon27803327 @trussliz I wanted to build some flats next to my smokehouse. Very tricky triangular site with one flat per floor. Breakeven was 8 flats. I proposed 9. The planners said the most they would allow is 6 as 9 might block the view of a disused chimney.

I have plenty of personal experience here. Planners are perhaps the most obstructive of all bureaucrats. They have far too much power.

In my experience of dealing with planning departments - the entire system needs massive reform. That is the block. It’s far too risky, time consuming and costly to get planning. This has led to cartelisation of the house building sector and put prices up.
