Another anti Truss headline in the Times. They quote economist Paul Johnson, who was economic adviser to the Government under Blair/Brown and completely missed the dot-com bubble and 2008 crash, and also the Resolution Foundation who are suggesting we raise income tax now! 🙄

Today’s Times headline shows a lack of understanding. Energyy companies who supply us directly make small profits - limited to 2% by OFGEM. It’s the producers who are making the money. We can’t nationalise Qatar or Saudi Arabia!

Thanks for the advice Nadhim. People tend to be careful with their own cash - a whole lot more careful than when they spend other peoples’ money.

So can I politely suggest the Gov cut back on its wasteful spending - like diversity officers in NHS, like HS2, NetZero compliance.

The table below shows how we use our energy in UK.

Heating homes uses only 21% of the total, so talk about insulating our homes to solve the energy crisis is nonsense. It will make a difference at the margin but that’s it.

There is no shortage of fuel - it’s under our feet!
