In Geneva Ukraine is high on the agenda. At the EU event for & with Ukraine, I spoke with the 🇺🇦 trade minister @taraskachka.

🇳🇱 and the 🇪🇺 stand firmly with Ukraine, also when it comes to trade. As the EU, we have recently temporarily suspended import duties on the country.

Ook in Genève staat #Oekraïne hoog op de agenda. Op het EU-evenement voor en met Oekraïne ontmoette ik de 🇺🇦 handelsminister @taraskachka.
🇳🇱 en de EU staan stevig naast 🇺🇦, ook op het gebied van handel. Als EU hebben we recent importheffingen voor het land tijdelijk opgeschort.

In Genève voor de @WTO-top, waar ik eerst mijn 🇩🇪 collega Philipp sprak over hoe we samen kunnen optrekken in de hervorming van de Wereldhandelsorganisatie. De WTO heeft nieuwe regels nodig voor een echt gelijk speelveld & we moeten milieu beter integreren in het handelsbeleid.

The @UN has a concrete plan to prevent this huge environmental disaster. However, more money is needed. The Netherlands and the US support the UN in raising awareness and collecting funds for the recovery of the tanker. #YemenCantWait 2/2

Great to meet with colleagues from the United States and Canada at @OECD. We discussed current trade agreements, climate and renewable energy. I also spoke with @AmbassadorTai about the #FSOSafer tanker off the coast of Yemen, which could leak oil at any moment. 1/2

Tijdens de OESO-vergadering ook overlegd met collega's uit de VS en Canada. Onderwerpen: actuele handelsafspraken, klimaat en hernieuwbare energie. Met @AmbassadorTai ook gehad over de olietanker #FSOSafer die voor de kust van Jemen ligt en elk moment olie kan lekken. 1/2

De VN heeft een concreet plan om een grote milieuramp te voorkomen. Het benodigde geld is er nog niet. Nederland en de VS ondersteunen de VN en vragen internationaal aandacht en geld voor het bergen van de tanker. 2/2

At the @OECD we also talked about world trade. We need to better integrate environmental concerns within trade policy. The OECD plays an important role in this. Working on sustainability is no longer optional. We will also discuss this at the upcoming @WTO summit.

We praten natuurlijk ook over wereldhandel (daar zet de OESO zich voor in). We moeten milieu beter integreren in het handelsbeleid, en daarbij speelt de OESO een belangrijke rol. Verduurzamen is niet langer vrijblijvend. Dit gaan we ook bespreken op de aanstaande @WTO-top.

Compelling speech from President @ZelenskyyUa at the #OECDMinisterial in Paris. Ukraine is at the top of the agenda. We are discussing different ways to offer support: humanitarian & financial aid and help with the reconstruction. All @OECD countries stand firmly behind Ukraine.

A large majority of the population in the Middle East and Africa is aged below 35. Today’s conversations confirmed that young people find education and employment the most important. 2/2

Finally, we addressed the global food crisis. The World Trade Organization (@WTO) meets at the end of next week. We need agreements on food security and against export restrictions. It is vital that international trade continues. 3/3

Today I met with EU trade colleagues in #Luxembourg. We spoke about our trade relations with China. Human rights and a level playing field for all companies are top priorities for the EU. 1/3

Ook de wereldwijde voedselcrisis aan de orde gesteld. Eind volgende week komt de Wereldhandelsorganisatie (@WTO) bij elkaar. Daar moeten we afspraken maken voor voedselzekerheid en tegen exportrestricties. Het is belangrijk dat internationale handel doorgaat. 3/3
