So Mr Speaker would have liked to have punched me in the face on Saturday! Quite a seismic departure from the supposed impartiality and objectivity of an office supposed to defend the rights of all MLAs. Mr Speaker seems to have a difficult relationship with my freedom of speech!

RT by @JimAllister: If remaining opposed to implementing the Sea Border, Windsor Framework, EU customs codes and being opposed to not being an equal citizen with the rest of the UK means i'm a "dead end unionist," then I'll wear the badge proudly... Many many principled unionists stand with Jim! 🇬🇧

Some people have asked who I was looking at in the gallery when I said ‘Well done Jeffrey’ - I was eyeballing Sir Jeffrey, of course.

So strengthening the Union, DUP style, now means surrendering Economy and Finance to SF, along with Infrastructure- the big economic departments. That will slow down the all-Ireland economy and provide great representation on InterTrade UK- I don’t think!

“Are any of these (DUP) tests met in this latest announcement? Not really. So the DUP’s volte face amounts to a pretty comprehensive surrender. The DUP and the UK government is, it seems, now going to pretend that the Irish Sea border does not exist. As a result, we are in the territory of the Emperor’s New Clothes.”

Legal advice from John Larkin KC on DUP deal to be published on Friday morning
Those who shared most anti-Protocol platforms with Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, namely, Ben Habib, Baroness Hoey, Jim Allister and Jamie Bryson, commissioned legal advice, at their own expense, on the DUP deal from former Attorney General and leading constitutional lawyer, John Larkin KC.
The advice is focused on the central issue of Art 6 of the Act(s) of Union, the restoration of which was the DUP’s primary test among its seven tests, and on the impact of the deal on the Irish Sea border.
The advice will be available to journalists on Friday morning at 11am at Parliament Buildings when representatives of those who commissioned it will be present.
The legal opinion will provide important clarity amongst all the hype and spin of recent days.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's official spokesman said: "This is our negotiation between the UK and the DUP, this is not about altering the fundamentals of the Windsor Framework.” Since WF didn’t alter “the essential elements” of the Protocol and couldn’t (Art 164 of Withdrawal Agreement), DUP returning as Protocol implementers.
