How come we still haven’t got an emergency home insulation programme?

Anxiety around energy costs is rocketing but still no proposal to reduce the need for need for energy?

@schooltruth Thanks for responding, Fiona. Of course you're right about the tax breaks for private schools and making public-sector schools so good nobody wants to pay for their kids education any longer

But I can't give up the idea that this is where elitism and inequality start

@chakrabortty @robertnpalmer @BBCr4today Thanks so much for tweeting this. I couldn’t agree more 😉

Hi @schooltruth

I was disappointed to hear you no longer support abolition of private schools

Parents choose these institutions to buy their children into elite networks that are heart of inequality in our society

We can’t have fairness while that central unfairness survives

@PickardJE It was fabulous. We had freeeeeeeedom. People had lots of hair and didn't wash as often as they do now but you really felt you could please yourself and what you wanted from life was totally valid

I travelled with @AvantiWestCoast yesterday

My own train was cancelled and I felt lucky to be able to hunch outside the toilet eating my lunch on the floor

But also furious that we have come to this in the country that created the wonder of the railway

BROKEN BRITAIN: The UK wakes up today to double-digit inflation, total chaos on the transport network, endless waits for ambulances, post-heat wave flash flooding, sewage pouring onto beaches

Grim but accurate summary from my @politico briefing this morning

@LoftusSteve @meadwaj If you fix the price at which suppliers sell electricity when they can't control the price at which they buy it you either have to subsidise them or nationalise them. We're suggesting the second. It probably will work out cheaper than the first

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/GreenPartyMolly/stat

@LoftusSteve @meadwaj Our policy is to nationalise the retailers

That's why that's the cost I quoted

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/GreenPartyMolly/stat

@LoftusSteve @meadwaj It's less than £3bn

Less than has already been spent on bailing out customers of different supply companies

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/GreenPartyMolly/stat

@TheSpotWatson @GreenPartyJack They wouldn’t have to pay those prices if our policies on moving away from fossil fuels had been followed for the past several decades

Solar and wind power are the cheapest way to generate electricity

@PatDBMcAllister @CreserDylanPol Remind producers of legal requirements
Persistent pitching (more media staff)
Having something to say about all leading political issues
Strengthening and training spokespeople

Plus the relationship building

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/GreenPartyMolly/stat

@PatDBMcAllister @CreserDylanPol You're right: it's all about relationships

Myself, media staff, and leadership team continually make and maintain relationships with key journalists and producers

This doesn't achieve anything like as much coverage as a party of our size deserves, however

Labour loses nearly 100,000 members and makes £5 million loss in 2021

Labour's income from membership fees fell from £19.3m in 2020 to £16.2m in 2021, a £3.1 drop in income which made up the majority of its £5.2m deficit.

@sunny_hundal @CarolineRussell If you read the full proposal you'll see that we also suggested differential and progressive tariffs to favour green energy companies and incentivise energy efficiency

🐦🔗: nitter.eu/GreenPartyMolly/stat

@sunny_hundal @CarolineRussell Hi Sunny

Thanks for engaging with proposal

Any cap on energy prices has to be matched with subsidy otherwise cos. will go bust

Because we're controlling the sale price for energy but not the purchase price (global markets)

We're just suggesting that subsidy goes with control

I’m sorry to say that @BBCr4today @bbc5live @BBCPolitics @BBCWorld @BBCWorldatOne

🙃 🤫 Didn’t consider this worth reporting
