Preliminary laboratory studies indicate that BQ.1 has the ability to considerably evade the immune system response.
According to the limited data available ,there is no evidence of BQ.1's increased severity compared to the circulating Omicron variants BA.4/BA.5.
This will contribute to an increase in the number of #COVID19 cases in the coming weeks to months.
Modelling forecasts predict that BQ.1 and BQ.1.1.sub-lineage will become dominant by mid-Nov to Dec.
