The second was in 1918, when Britain won the Great War.

Wise to cancel the last TV debate. The format is guaranteed to emphasise the candidates' faults and obscure their virtues. All five are decent, diligent and patriotic. MPs should grill them privately. Party members will see plenty of hustings between the final two.

Tunisia is sliding into dictatorship. Having disbanded parliament and arrested several critics, President Saied has now summoned Speaker @R_Ghannouchi before his Anti-Terrorism Unit. It was Ghannouchi who oversaw Tunisia's transition to democracy after 2011. Deeply worrying.

I’m pretty sure that, pre-pandemic, we used to encourage people to come to work if they reasonably could. Now, “work from home” has become a first recourse, covering everything from strikes to hot weather.
