To all those saying "No, high prices are caused by the greed of the energy companies" - I assume you are also arguing that the lower prices before 2020 were caused by the generosity of the energy companies?
RT @DanielJHannan: Why are we taking money through energy taxes and then giving it back through subsidies to help people with high energy bills? Wouldn't it be easier to cut the taxes in the first place, and save on the bureau…

The EU asserts that it, rather than the UK government, is responsible for protecting British consumers in Northern Ireland. And we are supposed to believe that it is negotiating in good faith.
RT @Telegraph: 🗣️ The EU’s Brexit negotiator has said checks in the Irish Sea are needed to protect consumers in Northern Ireland against unsafe goods arriving from Britain telegraph.co.uk/politics/2022/

RT @DominiqueTaegon: Let me get this straight:

Half of RMT workers set to strike have received pay rises + bonuses in 2019 & 2020.

Plus the offer of 2% pay increase in 2022 by Network Rail.

Train drivers have seen their pay increase 20x the rate of avg workers.

How are these strike reasonable?

A pleasure to host two brave and brilliant Venezuelans in Parliament - @cburelli and @TAMARA_SUJU. We know of the Chávez-Maduro regime’s crimes against dignity and democracy, liberty and livelihood. We are perhaps less familiar with its crimes against the environment.

To what problem is the ECHR a solution? Do its supporters truly imagine that, had Britain not signed up, we would be torturing dissidents, deporting whole populations or closing down opposition parties? Do they think we need to be “given” our rights by a foreign court?

Security in steel (or anything else) means being able to buy from a variety of global sources, so that we're not at risk from a localised disruption - which might as easily happen in Britain as anywhere.
Main suppliers (in order): 🇩🇪🇧🇪🇪🇸 🇳🇱 🇨🇳🇹🇷
There is no case for tariffs.

Total hero. We are in a cost of living crisis. The steel tariffs have absolutely no justification - some of them cover products that we don't even make here. They have been retained, in defiance of the advice of our trade remedies authority, purely because they poll well.
RT @DPJHodges: So Geidt resigned over steel subsidies. That’s not exactly the smoking gun many people were hoping for.

What have MPs got against Singapore's economic model?
Life expectancy has risen since 1960 from 66 to 83; in Britain from 71 to 81.
GDP per head has gone from half of ours to twice.
Schools, transport and health outcomes are superior.
What's the problem?

Delighted that the UK-Singapore agreement on digital trade comes into effect today. Congratulations to the brilliant and indefatigable Lord @GerryGrimstone.

RT @jamesjohnson252: If there is one lesson from British public opinion over the last decade, it is that people don’t like it when others tell Britain what it can and can’t do — even if people have more nuanced opinions about the particular thing in question.

@tomhfh @Mike_Fabricant @USAinUK Which was the first flag to fly over a US Navy vessel? The first flag to fly over Congress? The flag that expressed Washington's conviction that the patriots were fighting for the rights they had been born with as Britons?

@montie If only she'd been in a position to do something about it. If only she had been Home Secretary or even PM.
