Sorry to hear @bbcnickrobinson talk about “taxing businesses rather than ordinary people”. All taxes are paid by human beings. Businesses no more pay business tax than your TV set pays the licence fee or your house the council tax. Firms must pass taxes on to their customers.

The tax take from companies rises and falls over the business cycle. Firms make their plans accordingly. When governments retrospectively change the rules to punish them, it amounts to expropriation. Extraordinary to see every opposition party backing this nonsense. #windfalltax
