RT @Kilsally: The Government has an overriding duty to uphold the Belfast Agreement, which depends upon power-sharing. If the Protocol remains unmodified, that deal will collapse, because Unionists will not agree to serve in a devolved government. | Conservative Home t.co/kO6bKJUaAS

I enjoyed listening to ⁦@DavidGHFrost⁩ at ⁦@Policy_Exchange⁩ today. His remarks - thoughtful, measured, comprehensive - are the answer to those whose chief defence of the Protocol is “Well why did you sign it then?” Take a moment to read them. policyexchange.org.uk/pxevents

Does anyone still think Putin’s war was about NATO expansion, goading the bear etc etc?
RT @expatua: President of Moldova says they have no defenses for the country. Moldova is completely at the mercy of Russia.

"For 30 years, the Moldovan army has been left without equipment, without military equipment and combat-ready means. We are now aware of the consequences,” Sandu said.

RT @Miss_Snuffy: Yes I am fine with physics A level not being 50% girls.

I believe our girls choose what they want to study.

Their head of physics was a woman and is brilliant. They are taught well.

We ought to respect their choices.

RT @LanceForman: @DanielJHannan @metpoliceuk @DurhamPolice The rules were mad, pointless, vague & unenforceable.

The purpose was to scare people & it to that extent it worked

The vast majority of people broke them, either deliberately or inadvertently

The right thing to do now is refund - in full - anyone who was fined, then move on

Let’s call this what it is: a political investigation. Just as @metpoliceuk were pushed into changing course by Labour, now @DurhamPolice are being pushed by Tories. It is unthinkable that any similar case would be opened after two years. We are cheapening ourselves as a country.

I’m hearing that the EU is about to follow Britain’s lead and scrap its remaining tariffs and quotas on Ukrainian imports. This is very good news. Thanks, guys. 🇬🇧🇪🇺🇺🇦
RT @DanielJHannan: Last week, the UK announced that it was eliminating all remaining tariffs and quotas on Ukrainian imports - something it was able to do because of Brexit. The reaction from Europhiles, and even some EU officials, has been telling - and not in a g…

The rule of law matters. It is what distinguishes Britain from Russia, China or Iran. So let's stop pretending that disagreements over asylum policy or Northern Ireland amount to arbitrary government. conservativehome.com/thecolumn

Please, Sadiq, concentrate on real-world gun crimes and assaults in London, not on virtual name-calling.

RT @WalkerMarcus: They’re right. It’s just not the Speaker’s job. He is not the shop steward of MPs (if there is such a position it’s the Leader of the House), he’s not an arbiter of what is written about MPs (we don’t have a censor) he’s not the Press Complaints’ Commission.

I wrote this piece in May 2020, observing that most people had started to interpret the rules flexibly, at least with regard themselves. Hardly anyone disagreed at the time. conservativehome.com/thecolumn

Are children in Denmark, Spain, Sweden etc unsafe? Of course not. The average British two-earner family spends a third of post-tax income on nurseries and childminders, despite huge government subsidies. Why? Because providers see the ratios as a barrier against new entrants.

Britain has the highest childcare costs in the developed world, three times as high as Germany. Very welcome that the PM wants to help families by bringing staff-to-child ratios into line with Europe's. The BBC, bizarrely, reports it as "Boris wants to relax safety rules!"
