With all the data in, it turns out that excess deaths in Britain were lower than in Germany, but higher than in Sweden. So much of what we were told at the time turns out to be nonsense.
RT @mroliverbarnes: 🚨NEW🚨 An estimated 14.9mn excess deaths occurred in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the @WHO.

That figure is nearly 3 times higher than the official count of 5.4mn confirmed fatalities at the end …

RT @DanielJHannan: @bbcnickrobinson Thanks for engaging, Nick, but I don’t think this is playing with words. Politicians are drawn to the idea of taxing “the oil companies” or “the banks” because it sounds like someone else will pay. But almost all taxes end up being paid by (in your phrase) ordinary people.

RT @julianHjessop: Just updated a favourite chart with today's first estimates for euro in Q1 (and my own estimate for the UK)...

UK GDP fell further in 2020 and was initially slower to recover, partly due to uncertainty, but has since caught up and almost certainly edged ahead in Q1.
