This is so true. As Brits continue to leave the church many of our historic sacred buildings are kept alive and away from closure by new immigrants to this country.

@chloeoklenton My Dad was born in Malaysia and Grandmother born and brought up in China as was her Mother. Would it have been racist for the Malaysian and Chinese to be curious about my relatives heritage? Her questioning was clumsy but she is 83 and likely had no idea she was causing offence.

@urbanfox93 I said it was wrong - but the repeated questions seems clear to me she had no idea she was causing offence. I’m sorry for the lady who was upset but ppl are so quick to hate and judge like they’ve never caused offence to anyone without realising it.

@richey I can totally see what she asked was offensive I’m not defending what she asked I’m putting it into context as ppl in 80s shouldn’t be judged by 2022 progress we’ve made in our generation. Ppl are so quick to hate now and judge our elderly. Like you’ve never offended anyone?!

@ColinMacphee1 Her persistence is proof she didn’t realise she was being offensive. Age does make a difference I don’t get offended by sexist comments made by men of similar age they are of their time and generally mean no harm by it.

I’ve been lucky enough to spend time with Lady Hussey a very kind, warm, humble lady I can’t see how she meant any harm by this, you’d have her cancelled at 83?

Lady Hussey is in her 80s and asked where someone was originally from. I know can cause offence but what an unforgiving and hostile climate this is to our most dutiful and resilient generation who, with no malice, get it wrong and are cancelled after a life time of service.
