Had a very fruitful meeting in @SovLab, which studies the Soviet totalitarian past. Understanding political & moral responsibility of the Soviet cruel legacy is critical to avoid similar tragedies in the future, especially taking into account the current geopolitical context.

Again the govt of GD denied me to visit the 3rd President of Georgia🇬🇪, @SaakashviliM, detained for almost a year now. I met w/ his mother Giuli Alasania & his friend Giorgi Chaladze to get first-hand knowledge about his situation. I remain impressed by their courage and resolve.

Impunity of 🇷🇺 that followed 2008 invasion on 🇬🇪 is one of the factors that allowed #Russia to invade 🇺🇦. I visited Odzisi on the illegal occupation line. Ukrainian victory will bring freedom to Donbas & Crimea, but also will be decisive to restore territorial integrity of 🇬🇪.
