Good to be able to speak with university staff on the picket line as nation-wide strike action takes place today. While nobody wants to see industrial action, as vice-chair of the APPG on universities, I want to see a solution that works for everybody.

As I said yesterday in the House of Commons the Supreme Court has done us all a favour by making clear we don't have a legal dispute, we have a political one.

Scotland has outgrown the current devolution settlement, and deserves better than the UK’s clear democratic deficit. I’ll be writing something up overnight, but meantime solidarity with demonstrations in Stirling and elsewhere backing Scotland’s democratic right to choose.

Today's Supreme Court ruling answers a legal question, but raises a far deeper one on the nature of this Union, and Scotland's democracy.
