ICYMI yesterday’s ⁦@Sunday_Mail⁩ piece featuring me and ⁦@LukePollard⁩ on our call for an overhaul of gun laws. We must always keep our protections under review to make sure there’s no loopholes to abuse. dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottis

Fantastic night in Rob Roy MacGregor’s Barn at Kinlochard with @TeamStirlingSNP @TrossachsSNP’s 3 Saint Andrew’s Night Dinner for Ukraine 🇺🇦 Greece 🇬🇷 and Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. Great company and an important time to remember Saint Andrew unites people.

Rainswept and interesting with William from Ian McLeod Distillers on site at Bandeath to see their proposals for a bonded whisky warehouse for @Glengoyne @TamdhuWhisky @RosebankWhisky. Stirling’s great location the obvious place for all investment! 🥃

Good to be able to speak with university staff on the picket line as nation-wide strike action takes place today. While nobody wants to see industrial action, as vice-chair of the APPG on universities, I want to see a solution that works for everybody.

@GarethRoberts3 @Jacobbe79601492 @BylinesScotland @BylineTimes @JoshuaRozenberg @peterjukes @CentralBylines Agreed, also needs a rethink from some of our guys and a shift up of gears on how to actually get there.

@Jacobbe79601492 @GarethRoberts3 @BylinesScotland @BylineTimes @JoshuaRozenberg @peterjukes @CentralBylines It is indeed helpful, I've been writing something up myself on the right to self determination too. As I said yesterday in the House of Commons the Supreme Court has done us all a favour by making clear we don't have a legal dispute, we have a political one.

Here’s a thoughtful piece from ⁦@KennyFarq⁩ in ⁦@timesscotland that chimes with the points I made in the House of Commons yesterday⁩: Referendum ruling poses a challenge for Rishi Sunak. thetimes.co.uk/article/referen

RT @AlynSmith: Two years ago tonight, speaking to the Scotland for Europe ⁦@euromovescot⁩ rally at Holyrood ⁦⁩before heading through to the ⁦@GlasgowlovesEu⁩ rally having already spoken to ⁦@Stirling4Europe⁩. That’s the past, independence in Europe is the future 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺

@Stu_Carruthers Back too late I’m afraid! I was there in spirit, and thinking of next steps to kick things on.

Scotland has outgrown the current devolution settlement, and deserves better than the UK’s clear democratic deficit. I’ll be writing something up overnight, but meantime solidarity with demonstrations in Stirling and elsewhere backing Scotland’s democratic right to choose.

My Maiden speech from 2019, and my question today to the Secretary of State for Scotland.

Today's Supreme Court ruling answers a legal question, but raises a far deeper one on the nature of this Union, and Scotland's democracy.

RT @NicolaSturgeon: 2/ Scottish democracy will not be denied.
Today’s ruling blocks one route to Scotland’s voice being heard on independence - but in a democracy our voice cannot and will not be silenced.
I'll make a full statement later this morning - tune in around 11.30am

RT @NicolaSturgeon: 1/ While disappointed by it I respect ruling of @UKSupremeCourt - it doesn't make law, only interprets it.
A law that doesn't allow Scotland to choose our own future without Westminster consent exposes as myth any notion of the UK as a voluntary partnership & makes case for Indy

🌍 Proud with @StewartMcDonald and @ChrisLawSNP to launch @theSNP Westminster Paper on Protection of Civilians in Conflict. An important contribution to an issue that needs to be far higher up the world’s agenda: alynsmith.scot/2022/11/22/new-

RT @airwars: “This is a positive paper,” says @AlynSmith, “making these points here isn’t just about an independent Scotland but it’s about what we can all do to get the world to a better place than where we are now. The protection of civilians needs to be higher up the agenda.”
