@christia_allard regarding his comment on exports and imports, assuming the figure is approximately correct, we have to look at what we import and export.  Imports are mainly food, clothing, white goods and cars.  Exports are mainly Whisky, Salmon, beef and lamb.  Now, looking at the UK in general under each one of those import headings 80% to 90% is imported, so we are not actually importing from England but from other countries via England. 

@christia_allard On the export side, the U.K.’s biggest food and drink exports are Whisky and salmon, so clearly most of the exports to England are only en route elsewhere. To compensate for the loss of the French market, England would have to drink five times as much Whisky
The other major export is Energy. England is very far from producing all the energy she needs, both from fossil fuels and renewables, and she depends absolutely on Scottish exports.
