Germany wants Georgia to become a member of the #EU 🇪🇺. The Georgian people are protesting to ensure Georgia remains on its path to the EU. The Georgian government said it wanted the candidate status. Now Georgia is an EU candidate. European values require a commitment from each state to strengthen an active civil society and pluralism. EU integration, an active civil society, and pluralism would strengthen Georgia as a sovereign state.

However, the current course of the Georgian government goes in a completely different direction. Violence against protesters is unacceptable. #EUintegration will not happen if the Georgian government continues with the adoption of the foreign agent law and the planned discrimination against #LGBTIQ. With this course there won't be EU membership - neither in 2030 nor later. The Georgian government and the Georgian people will need to make this decision about Georgia's future.
