Today the first Turkish Cypriot ‘Χαλλουμι’ (Halloumi)/‘Hellim’ producer was awarded the Protected Designation of Origin certificate.
The EU registered #Halloumi as PDO in 2021. Producers from both Cypriot communities are certified to benefit from this.

This PDO registration arrangement ensures equal and fair treatment for all #Halloumi/Hellim producers on each side of the Green Line, and will guarantee that consumers throughout the EU can identify this authentic Cypriot product.
